Let me start by saying that this was the 2nd time I sat in a Tesla, and in this particular one … We have a friend, Jere… Who says something that rhymes with “Elecrtric Toner” and this was EXACTLY how I’d describe the situation when I reached the first corner.

A Memorable Experience
This whole thing started when I visited Daytona circuit in Akaa, Finland last sat 16th of September as a passenger ride with a Finnish car enthusiast Pertti. He knows the track pretty well and he comes here often and he knows his Tesla very well too. In fact, he holds one of the top all time record for road cars on this track with his Tesla Model 3 Performance. So it was pretty damn obvious that I was gonna experience fast driving on a totally new level.

So sitting in my passenger seat and ready for launch, I was pushed back to the seat and was like what the hell happened here. Think of the fastest roller coaster you’ve ever been on, and double that. That fast ! and the thing kept on the great performance when it came time to cornering, nothing but tire squeel and a few hisses here and there from the electric motor and my body being thrown from side to side.

The perfectly balanced motors between front and back distributed equal power and this allowed for this car was biting into the asphalt like nobodys business. I must admit I never liked the idea of EVs simply beucase of lack of personality, but this experience has opened my eye to why this trend is ongoing and why more and more brands are concentrating on fully electric vehicles.

But the stopping power was the biggest shocker to be honest. It was so violent and sudden compared to my Miata that it felt uncomfortable. Overall in span of few mins I was mostly trying to figure out what was going while trying to enjoyed it too in addition to being a tad scared too. While at the corners the G-meter on the dash was showing 1,6 Gs and at breaking we were getting 1,9G on breaking, and a small research showed that the newer 911 Gt3 pulls just slightly higher than those numbers around track so this is a proper fast car.

Not An EV Guy
I must admit I never liked the idea of EVs simply beucase of lack of personality and the way they all look alike and not many variety of them. But this experience has opened my eye to why this trend is ongoing and why more and more brands are concentrating on fully electric vehicles. This car did not produce any form of oil leaks on track, no fumes, no noise pollution, no drama whatsoever while delivering super car performance levels with excellent comfort. The analogy of “Silent but Violent” goes very well here describing this Model 3 Performance. I have to congratulate Elon Musk and his team for achieving this great level of carfection.

Tesla For Daily?
I would definitely consider buying a Model 3 Permance here in Finland for daily driving in the future. Especially with the rising fuel prices this car costs next to nothing (equvilent to around 2L/100km). It is the absolute best machine for the job with great value for money. However, when it comes to pleasure drives… there is still something missing for me. It is the noise of internal combusion, the spool of the turbo charger, the swoosh of the blow of valve, the high revving rpm gauge, the clunk of perfectly down shifting, the feeling that the car is an extention of my mechanical body, these are the essense of a car for me and it just quinches my thirst for cars that no EV can.

Vlog of the day:
Of course my main mission was to share this experience with other car enthusiasts, so I did the vlog thing again and captured my reaction and the journey and I think it turned out pretty nicely. It took a few weeks of editing but OMG turned alright. I hope you enjoy this video,
