The Need For Speed
Here we go again ! For the 3rd time now I visited a track day and this time Alastaro Circuit’s brand new short but super fast 1.6km track. Once you get your first dose of going fast around the bend and feeling the push of gravity and g-forces, you will want much more again and in much higher doses. So you go and learn each track slowly untill you can drive it smoothly and as smooth as possible. Once again the Miata club of Finland (miata.fi) arranged this awesome trackday alongside Toyota, Mitsubishi, Opel, and Peugeot clubs. But since the main track was reserved we had brand new asphalt to play with, but with some dangerous run-offs capable of flipping you over.

Finding Talent
First things first. My beautiful wife tagged along with me on this track day and even got to go on a few spirited passenger laps (video coming soon lol) and I asked if she could take some shots since she loves photography and takes really great nature shots.

Armed with my lovely Canon R6 and Canon EF 70-200 F4 L IS lens I simply set the camera up with the right setting (shutter around 1/250, F4, and iso 100), explained a few things about panning to her and showed some live demosntration. Now the R6 has an excellent car subject detection so I knew it would really help her out.

The Verdict?
I knew she sould take some really good shots especially since there was lots of time to practice. But I have to say I was shocked when I reviewed the images. Firstly (my bad) I had left the camera on burst+ which is 20fps in electronic shutter. So I found out I had 2,500 shots to go through, that’s 55 GB of images. But the results absoltely blew my mind, and we found a new talent unlocked instantly. Majority of the pics you will be viewing today is her job and I simply did some minor edits. So credit is due to Nasim and hope you enjoy this beautiful set of photos. Stay tuned for the vlog and onboard footage as well coming soon to https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeS4oPrn3bvf48wmj0Ufetg

The day was filled with many fast laps and I quite enjoyed driving on the track, although due to the high speed nature of the track and the fact that there were not any proper corners it felt a bit unbalanced. Hopefully next season we get to drive the full 4.5km track and connecting these two will make it insanely fun.
